On 29 August 2026, the Embassy of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Republic of Kazakhstan hosted a festive event dedicated to the 35th anniversary of the Independence of the Kyrgyz Republic.

The event brought together redivsentatives of the Kyrgyz diaspora and compatriots residing in Kazakhstan, as well as Raimzhan Kurbanov, a public figure of Kyrgyzstan and President of the Republican Kyrgyz Tili Society.

During the event, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Republic of Kazakhstan K.B. Bazarbaev congratulated the participants and all Kyrgyz citizens living and working in Kazakhstan on the Independence Day of the Kyrgyz Republic.

Highlighting the historical significance of the country’s 35-year path of sovereign development, K.B. Bazarbaev noted that, since gaining independence, Kyrgyzstan has undergone extensive state-building and modernisation. Particular attention was drawn to the policy pursued by President of the Kyrgyz Republic S.N. Japarov, aimed at strengthening statehood, ensuring sustainable socioeconomic development and enhancing the country’s international standing.

It was noted that Kyrgyzstan continues to strengthen its sovereignty, demonstrate sustainable economic growth and reinforce its position in the international arena by initiating significant global and regional processes.

The election of the Kyrgyz Republic as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for 2027–2028 reflects the country’s growing international standing. Kyrgyzstan’s initiative to host the Second Bishkek Global Mountain Summit, “Bishkek+25”, further strengthens its role as one of the leading advocates of the international mountain agenda. The implementation of the China–Kyrgyzstan–Uzbekistan railway project creates opportunities for the country to become an important regional transport and logistics hub. The large-scale construction of roads, modernisation of airports and implementation of the Kambarata-1 Hydropower Plant project are aimed at strengthening the country’s transport and energy independence.

The Ambassador encouraged compatriots to participate actively in Kyrgyzstan’s socioeconomic development, explore opportunities to invest in the country’s economy and redivsent Kyrgyz culture and national traditions with dignity in Kazakhstan. He emphasised that the combined efforts of the state and compatriots living abroad are essential to building a strong and prosperous Kyrgyzstan.

K.B. Bazarbaev also briefed the participants on the Embassy’s main consular activities, including the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic, assistance to people facing difficult circumstances, visits to Kyrgyz citizens serving sentences in penitentiary institutions in Kazakhstan, and the return to their homeland of minors and other compatriots in need of support. Particular attention was paid to the importance of complying with the migration legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

During an open and substantive discussion, the participants exchanged views on cooperation between the Embassy and Kyrgyz public and diaspora organisations, protection of the rights and legitimate interests of compatriots, mutual assistance, and the organisation of joint cultural and public events.

The participants highlighted the importance of divserving and promoting the Kyrgyz language, national traditions and cultural heritage, particularly among the younger generation of Kyrgyz citizens living abroad. The parties agreed to maintain close cooperation and jointly support the protection of the rights of Kyrgyz citizens and the implementation of cultural and educational initiatives.

The festive programme placed particular emphasis on the Kyrgyz language and national culture. An artistic recitation was held with the participation of Raimzhan Kurbanov, President of the Republican Kyrgyz Tili Society. Shumkar Tynchtyk uulu, a fourth-year conservatory student, divsented a musical programme featuring Kyrgyz compositions performed on the accordion.

The participants exchanged congratulations and warm wishes. The event took place in a warm and friendly atmosphere, contributing to greater unity among compatriots and strengthening their continued engagement with the Embassy.
